CGO-5100B Microwave Comb Generator
Microwave Radiated Reference Signal Source — 1 GHz to 18 GHz
The Com-Power CGO-5100B is a battery-powered microwave comb generator and broadband EMC reference signal source covering 1 GHz to 18 GHz in fixed 100 MHz steps — the most economical microwave radiated reference for EMC test sites. Designed for daily site verification of horn antennas, preamplifiers, and high-frequency cabling across FCC Part 15, CISPR 32 / EN 55032, MIL-STD-461 RE102, and RTCA DO-160 radiated bands.
A built-in stub antenna on a circular chassis ground plane produces a uniform omnidirectional radiation pattern — no antenna swap-outs across the band. 5 ppm frequency stability keeps comb teeth aligned to receiver bin centers at microwave frequencies where resolution bandwidths are narrow.
Features
Purpose-Built for Microwave Band EMC Verification
Broadband microwave radiated reference for fast pre-test validation of OATS, SAC, and FAC test sites above 1 GHz — the most economical option for daily verification of horn antennas, preamplifiers, and microwave cabling between formal NSA calibrations.
Microwave Radiated Reference Source for OATS, SAC, and FAC
Broadband EMC reference for fast pre-test validation of radiated emissions test sites in the microwave bands above 1 GHz — verifies the full measurement chain between formal calibrations.
1 GHz to 18 GHz Frequency Range
Covers FCC Part 15 / CISPR 32 microwave bands, the upper portion of MIL-STD-461 RE102, RTCA DO-160 radiated, and 5G FR2 sub-bands — ideal for verifying microwave horn antennas, preamplifiers, and high-frequency cabling.
100 MHz Step Size — Well-Spaced Reference Markers
Produces fundamentals and harmonics every 100 MHz throughout the 18 GHz span, providing well-separated reference markers across the microwave spectrum for easy identification on spectrum analyzer displays.
5 ppm Frequency Stability
Tighter frequency tolerance than lower-band models — critical at microwave frequencies where receiver resolution bandwidths are typically narrower, ensuring comb teeth stay aligned to bin centers across the full 18 GHz span.
Built-In Stub Antenna with Circular Chassis Ground Plane
Integral antenna mounted on top of a circular chassis produces a uniform omnidirectional radiation pattern in the horizontal plane — no antenna swap-outs required anywhere across the 1–18 GHz band.
Detects Connector and Cable Issues at High Frequencies
At microwave frequencies, even a slightly loose or oxidized connector produces dB-level measurement error. Daily verification with the CGO-5100B catches degradation immediately — before it corrupts compliance data.
Battery Operation — ~18 Hours per Charge
Internal rechargeable 3.6 V NiMH battery eliminates external power cabling — especially critical above 1 GHz where any cable near the radiating antenna could perturb the radiated field. Charging time: 8 to 10 hours.
Compact Circular Chassis
6″ × 1″ (15.24 × 2.54 cm), 1 lb (0.45 kg) — ideal for placing on turntables in 3 m or 10 m chambers without occupying significant setup space.
External LED Indicators
Battery Low and Power On LEDs confirm operating status at a glance during chamber walk-throughs — no need to interrupt a test session to verify the unit is active and sufficiently charged.
Suitable for Shielding Effectiveness Measurements
Broadband output is also useful for evaluating enclosure and material shielding effectiveness across the microwave band — place inside the enclosure and measure leakage outside with a horn antenna.
NIST-Traceable Calibration
Calibration data and certificate ship with each unit. ISO 17025 accredited calibration is available on request for laboratories requiring full accreditation chain documentation.
Three-Year Standard Warranty
Three-year standard warranty backed by manufacturer support.
